This week at our Canterbury group, clients put their cognitive skills to the test with a creative and challenging activity: solving a murder mystery cold case.
The session involved sorting through evidence, analysing photographs, and assessing witness statements to piece together the timeline. These tasks are designed to strengthen essential cognitive functions such as information processing, sequencing, judgement, and attention—all of which are often affected after a brain injury.
Our Cognitive Skills Groups provide a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment where individuals can rebuild lost skills in a practical and enjoyable way. Activities like the murder mystery not only support recovery but also bring an element of fun and teamwork into rehabilitation.
Here’s what some of our clients said about the session:
“I enjoyed trying to work out the timeline and motives.”
“The photos are useful but you still need to take a closer look at everything.”
“With a brain injury I don’t always think methodically, this was good practice trying to find the finer details and really think.”
After a busy morning of problem-solving, the group enjoyed an autumnal walk to wind down and reflect. 🍂
At Headway Kent, we know that rebuilding cognitive skills after brain injury is vital—but it can also be fun, engaging, and rewarding
