Building Digital Confidence: Bev's One-to-One Support with a Personal Touch at Headway Kent

Date: 6th August 2025

At Headway Kent, our one-to-one intensive social rehabilitation sessions are designed around the person and we understand that a generic 'one size fits all' programme will not work. Our sessions are about real life, real goals, and real progress.

In this photo, you can see Bev working alongside Headway Kent's dedicated team member Jazz. One of Bev’s personal goals is to be able to use her mobile phone independently, especially as it contains important health-related apps such as those for her diabetes monitoring.

Jazz has carefully crafted this session to Bev’s needs, supporting her to build digital confidence, learn practical phone functions, and develop the independence to manage key health tasks in everyday life. Whether it's navigating an app, checking medical data, or simply feeling confident making calls and texts, this is about empowering Bev with tools that help her stay connected and in control.

Digital inclusion matters to our clients. For brain injury survivors, apps and AI-based tools can support everything from memory and scheduling to emotional regulation, health tracking, and even communication. That’s why developing these skills is a core part of the social rehabilitation work we do at Headway Kent.

With the Government’s new NHS 10-Year Plan placing strong emphasis on digital access and health equity, it’s more important than ever to ensure our clients aren’t left behind. Everyone deserves the opportunity to engage with the digital world – and for those living with an acquired brain injury, that support needs to be hands-on, patient, and person-centred.

Our one-to-one social rehabilitation support is more than just practical help — it’s a lifeline. These personalised sessions empower adults living with acquired brain injury to regain independence, rebuild everyday skills, and improve their wellbeing. From digital literacy and communication to confidence building and community integration, each session is tailored to the individual’s needs and goals. This kind of targeted, person-centred brain injury support can make a lasting difference, helping people to not only recover, but to thrive.
